TOKYO BROADCASTING SYSTEM TELEVISION, INC. (hereinafter referred to as “the Company”, “we” or “us”), will process personal information carefully and take all possible measures to ensure that the rights and interests of individuals are not violated under the current circumstances in which the use of personal information is remarkably spreading in an advanced information and telecommunications society.

All persons involved in business of the Company will comply with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Act No. 57 of May 30, 2003) and other laws, regulations and guidelines relating to the protection of personal information, and will abide by the Privacy Policy set forth herein with discipline.

In addition, in light of the social mission of broadcasting, the Company will endeavor to appropriately protect the processing of personal information for the purpose of reporting and writing, which serves the public’s right to know and is responsible for the freedom of expression.

Therefore, we will continuously review the measures for protection of personal information and make appropriate improvements.

1. Acquisition of Personal Information

The personal information will be acquired by explicitly stating, notifying, or disclosing the purpose of use to the data subject in advance and in an appropriate manner to the extent necessary to achieve the purpose.

2. Use of Personal Information

We will use the personal information within the range of “The Purpose of Use of Personal Information” preliminarily noted or disclosed and will properly maintain it as updated and accurate.

3. Disclosure or Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

We will not disclose or provide personal information to a third party without the consent of the data subject, except in the following cases:

(1)Cases based on laws and regulations;
(2)Cases in which there is a need to protect a human life, body or fortune of the data subject or a third party;
(3)Cases in which there is a special need to enhance public hygiene or promote fostering healthy children; or
(4)Cases in which there is a need to cooperate in regard to a central government organization or local government, or persons entrusted by them performing affairs prescribed by laws and regulations.

4. Personal Information within the EU

We (including our EU sub-offices) may transfer personal information acquired within the EU region to the headquarters of the Company in Japan which has received an adequacy decision from the European Commission.

Data subjects whose personal information is acquired by the Company in the EU region may request access, correction or deletion of their personal information and restriction on the processing of their personal information, file complaints against such processing, and exercise rights of data portability to the following contacts.

Data subjects of aforementioned personal information may also file a complaint to the supervisory authority.

5. Implementation of Safety Measures

We will implement appropriate measures for personal information against risks such as unauthorized access, leakage, loss, damage, and falsification under the supervision of the specified officer in charge.

6. Retention Period of Personal Information

We will set the shortest retention period required and delete personal information without delay in the event that the retention period expires or personal information is no longer necessary to achieve the purpose of use explained in “The Purpose of Use of Personal Information.”

7. Management of Entrustees Processing Personal Information

We will supervise employees processing personal information and entrustees which will be selected appropriately, and conduct necessary training and enlightenment activities for them.

8. Disclosure, Correction, Deletion, etc., of Personal Information

We will make response without delay where a request for disclosure of personal information has been made by the data subject, except in the following cases:

(1)Cases in which there is a possibility of harming the data subject or third party’s life, body, fortune or other rights or interests;
(2)Cases in which there is a possibility of serious interference with the proper execution of our operations; or
(3)Cases of violating laws and regulations.

In the event of a request for correction, addition, or deletion of personal information from the data subject, a request for discontinuation of use, etc. of personal information due to the fact that personal information is acquired or processed in violation of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, or complaints, objections, etc., relating to the processing of personal information, we investigate without delay and respond appropriately and in good faith.

In addition, the data subject of personal information may file a complaint with the Personal Information Protection Commission or other supervisory authorities with regard to the processing of personal information. The data subject may also withdraw consent with regard to the processing of personal information at any time.
